Another great day of sunshine today. I can’t get over the fact its December 15th!

Anyway, I met Dan A and Peter Millhouse this morning at Alcaidesa driving range. We spent an hour chipping and putting while we warmed up the muscles and worked on alignment.

We had a tee off time of 11.10am. We were walking. Anyone out there played Alcaidesa will understand thats not an easy task. It was hard on the feet, but I was pulling off some great shots.

On the last 3 holes I used Dans 8.5 degree driver. Wow! What a difference! much better distance and better ball flight.

Roll on Christmas and I can get my hands on my new Irons! then I can work on getting a new driver, my 12.5 degree is not bad, but after that 8.5…….

La Cañada Golf

On Tuesday I had a chance to go and play La Cañada, Álvaro Quirós home course, with Dan and Danny.

I was looking forward to playing with them as they are both good players. I was up for the challenge.

One problem was, I had been away with a few friends over the weekend and had not picked up a golf club in a few days.
We got there early and spent time on the range and putting greens, getting warmed up.

We had a 11.10am tee off and the first few holes I was happy. The next few hours were hard work.
I left the course a little frustrated. But I had a lesson with Peter Millhouse at 4pm. That went well.

Note to self – I need to work on my consistency. I have to hit minimum of 200 balls a day come rain or shine.

Golf Courses on the Costa de Sol

I will be adding some of my favourite courses here over the next few days.

Finca Cortesin 9th green. The turning point of many matches during the World Matchplay that is held there every year.

Ian Poulter is the current holder of the of the title. I look forward to seeing the players back here in May 2012 for some more inspirtaional golf.

Today i played 18 holes with my good mate Dan Aldridge at Alcaidesa Heathlands. We had a good round. Dan went round on PAR, I was a few shots behind. I need more course time, but its starting to come togther.

At 4pm I had a lesson with Peter Millhouse and practised my swing and in the bunker. We also addresed a few issues that I had been having during the mornings round.

Afterwards I was lucky enough to spend some time with Manuel de los Santos. He is one of my biggest inspirations and he helped me with my draw and fade shots as well as a constant strike of the ball. Manuel taught me a valuable lesson on how every golfer has his own touch and feeling with the golf club and behind the ball and that I need to find my touch and feeling.

Diet and exercise

I like to go running a few times a week, this helps me with stamina on the course. It is also a good time for me to plug into my ipod and clear my mind.
I also do gym work on my weights bench in my bedroom working on my core and upper body strength.
I love food and enjoy cooking and know that a good healthy, balanced diet helps in more ways than one. Red meat, Fish and Pastas are my favourite. On the course I like to take dried fruit and nuts with me to release slow energy, cereal bars and maybe a chocolate bar also help especially on the last four holes.
I try my best to stay away from fizzy drinks but I’m happy with fruit juices and cold water at home and a cold beer or two after a long day on the course.
